Asking the Right Questions for Sustainable Development Goals: Performance Assessment Approaches for the Qatar Education System

Questions determine our fate as individuals and societies. Asking the right questions at time in amount makes choices decisions meaningful. As human beings we all experience this from an early age. In education, order to evaluate, learn inform growth of students, professional development teachers overall efficiency system, become integral element complex, non-linear social system different levels. The purpose article is investigate how performance assessment strategies play a role education understand progressive assessments can be set up with sustainable thinking designed alignment United Nation’s (UN) Development Goals (SGDs) for given context. To aid Qatar’s pursuit transitioning resource-based economy knowledge-based one, study aims design develop proper (PA) framework that aligned SDGs goals (EGs) help achieve envisioned national vision. This article: (i) presents theoretical qualitative analysis PA practices Qatar Education System (QES); (ii) provides comparative among best global level; (iii) examines methodology, conditions, findings based on learning from: (a) successful experiences other countries, (b) documented analyses local past experiences, (c) stakeholders (through investigation) needs, recommendations tailored strategy. results indicate there are misalignments between core educational components such EGs methods used evaluate them. reveal QES urgently needs strategy appropriate its meet enhance their sustainability competencies.
